Leading An Empowered Organization (LEO) —
Agenda and Objectives

During the three day Leading an Empowered Organization course both novice and experienced leaders deepen their understanding and hone their skills. Facilitators use a combination of lecture, discussion, role-playing and small group problem solving. Participants emerge with individual and group plans of action. This program qualifies for 18.8 contact hours.

Three Day Program Agenda
Agendas are tailored to meet the specific needs of each class. However, each class follows the same basic agenda:

Additional LEO Services
Licensing
    Your staff may be trained as licensed facilitators to teach LEO in your organization through a license agreement. The National Health Service in England has more than 30,000 leaders who are licensed to teach the LEO program.
Executive Team Building and Preparation for Empowerment (1 DAY)
    Provides an overview of key LEO concepts and addresses the specific needs of those to whom the LEO participants report. Helps leaders develop a followup plan augmenting the LEO training. Behavioral changes to be expected and benchmarks to measure progress will be discussed.
Follow-up visit at 4 – 6 months (1 DAY)
    Explores how participants have incorporated LEO concepts into their daily leadership. Deepens understanding of the content, reinforces behaviors learned and strengthens team building efforts. Content customized to meet specific client needs.

Continuing Education
Creative Health Care Management, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Program Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This program is eligible for 18 contact hours.

To receive contact hours, the participant must attend the entire session and complete program evaluation.

LEO Objectives
  • Identify program objectives and purpose of LEO for your organization.
  • Describe the conceptual framework for Leading an Empowered Organization: articulated expectations, responsibility/ authority/accountability, and the empowerment triangle.
  • Differentiate centralized and decentralized management approaches and discuss when each may be most effective.
  • Define the leader’s role in articulating expectations for group and individual performance.
  • Define and delineate the concepts of responsibility, authority and accountability.
  • Discuss the need for leaders to build relationships, avoid unhealthy behaviors, and achieve interdependence.
  • Discuss the need for empowered leaders to build capacity, avoid problem punitive practices and gain commitment.
