Leadership at the Point of Care (LPC) —
Tools to Enhance Professional Practice

Snapshot

Leadership at the Point of Care (LPC) is an inspirational 3-day seminar for nurses and clinical professionals. This powerful curriculum has been proven through research to improve satisfaction with the work environment, particularly work relationships and staff leadership

Purpose

LPC is designed to develop leadership skills in direct caregivers. Participants use these skills to strengthen patient/family care, professional practice and collaboration.

LPC is integrated with the tenants of Relationship-Based Care and can be used to:

  • Develop professional practice and enhance role clarity
  • Strengthen empowerment as a part of a Magnet® journey
  • Deepen and sustain Relationship-Based Care after implementation

Curriculum
LPC is a dynamic and action focused 3-day seminar/retreat for nursing staff and other clinical professionals. Through this proven curriculum, participants develop new skills in communication, teamwork, and leading change. Action plans are developed at the conclusion of each day related to one aspect of leadership—leader as person, leader as colleague, and leader as a professional.

A fourth day, scheduled months later, features a world café dialogue to showcase the impact of the action plans and to deepen and sustain the work.

A one-day companion program, Relationships at the Point of Care is designed for support and ancillary staff.
