Gary L. Saltus, DO, FACOS

Areas of Expertise

Gary brings more than 20 years of experience as a cardiac surgeon to his work with Creative Health Care Management. Following completion of a three-year fellowship in cardiac surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, he entered private practice in Columbus, OH. He introduced cardiovascular surgery to Doctors Hospital in Columbus, starting the program from scratch. In 1994, Gary returned to practice as a heart surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation until 1998.

After 20 years of experience in surgery, for medical reasons, open heart surgery and two neck surgeries later, Gary had to involuntarily give up surgery. This started him on his journey of transformational transitioning for himself. Gary's deeply personal experience inside health care and his keen interest in organizational development led him to expand his knowledge of transformational transitioning. Gary trained at the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara, CA to become a Certified Executive/Life Coach. Gary then trained in both clinical and organizational system development at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland (GIC). He did specialized training in group work in Israel GIC and Cleveland. He then completed the Leadership Development through Emotional Intelligence program at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management.

Gary specializes in working with groups to experience transformational transitioning of change. He has worked with operating room teams, physicians, cardiac patients, cancer patients, and organizations to transition change. He has also participated in radio and television shows dealing with transitioning change. He is a consultant with Creative Health Care Management, taking Relationship-Based Care to physicians to promote physician/nurse, nurse/physician collaboration.
