Areas of Expertise Gary Saltus has more than 25 years of experience as a cardiac surgeon. Following completion of a three-year fellowship in cardiac surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Dr. Saltus entered private practice in Columbus, Ohio. He introduced Cardiovascular Surgery to Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio starting the program from scratch. In 1994, Gary returned to practice as a heart surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation until 1998.
After 25 years of experience in surgery, for medical reasons, open heart surgery and two neck surgeries later, Gary had to involuntarily give up surgery. This started him on this journey of transformational transitioning for himself. Gary’s deeply personal experience inside health-care and keen interest in organizational development led him to expand his knowledge of transformational transitioning. Gary trained at the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara California to become a Certified Executive/Life Coach. Gary then trained in both the clinical and organizational system development sections at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland (GIC). He did specialized training in group work both in Israel GIC as well as in Cleveland. He is a resource faculty for the coaching tract at Gestalt OSD Center. He then completed the The Leadership Development through Emotional Intelligence Program at the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management.
Gary specializes in working with groups to experience transformational transitioning of change. He has worked with operating room teams, physicians, cardiac patients, cancer patients, and organizations to transition change. He has also done both radio and television shows dealing with transitioning change. He is a consultant with Creative Health Care Management, taking Relationship-Based Care to Physicians to do Physician/Nurse, Nurse/Physician Collaboration.
