Meet Our Adjunct Faculty

John Nelson, RN, MS

John has developed and tested a scientific instrument that evaluates the work environment of healthcare as perceived by the healthcare employee. John is a trained facilitator in CHCM's programs Reigniting the Spirit of Caring, Leading an Empowered Organization and Leading at the Point of Care. He also works with organizations to manage other indicators, including employee, financial and patient outcomes.

John graduated from Anoka Ramsey Community College, with an Associate Degree of Nursing. He graduated from Bethel College in Arden Hills, Minnesota with a Baccalaureate of Nursing Degree in 1996. He completed his Master's of Science degree at the University of Minnesota in 2001 with a focus on organizational design and job satisfaction. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program at the University of Minnesota, continuing to study the work environment of nurses and healthcare.


Sandra Dandrinos-Smith, RN., M. Ed.

Sandy has developed and implemented Continuing Education Programs for health care providers for over 25 years. An experienced Project Manager, for implementation of Primary Nursing, Sandy facilitated the development and implementation of twenty-two Unit-Based Practice Committees at Tufts-New England Medical Center. While at Tufts-NEMC Sandy published and edited a monthly Professional Practice Newsletter and chaired the Magnet Steering Committee. Sandy is a facilitator for Leading an Empowered Organization, Reigniting the Spirit of Caring and Leadership at the Point of Caring. She is also trained in Work complexity Assessment.

Sandy received her diploma in Nursing from Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (Gardner, MA), her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts (Boston, MA) and her Masters in Education, Suffolk University, Boston, MA.

 

Mary Jo Kreitzer, PhD RN,

As founder of the University of Minnesota's Center for Spirituality and Healing, Dr. Mary Jo Kreitzer brings more than 15 years of leadership and expertise in the field of complementary therapies and healing practices. Mary Jo has worked with both individuals and institutions on a optimal healing environments, complementary therapies and healing practices, healthy work environment, and design of integrated care systems. In addition, she has extensive experience in nursing leadership and administration.

Mary Jo earned her doctoral degree in health services research and her master's and bachelor's degrees in nursing. She served as Director of Nursing Practice and Research at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic for ten years. Currently, she is a tenured associate professor in the School of Nursing. She teaches in the graduate minor in complementary therapies and healing practices and is the program lead for the complementary and integrative medicine program within the Lillehei Heart Institute.
